Master Colin Wee is 7th Dan Taekwondo, Principal of Joon Do Kwan, and Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductee.
Colin is an author and has written award-winning book, Breaking Through: The Secrets of Bassai Dai.
In the book, Colin explores applications and concepts extrapolated from Bassai Dai kata. Inspired by this kata, Colin has developed combative applications that are practical lessons for martial artists, using not only hard-style striking but also effective, soft-style principles, traps and takedowns generally overlooked in modern martial arts training such as Karate and Taekwondo. As a student of the martial arts for more than four decades, Colin accepts the responsibilities of the originators of Bassai Dai to pass this knowledge to all who would study it with him. Participants need not know Bassai Dai, as Colin’s methods can be applied to any form in any style to inspire and enrich patterns training beyond simplistic rote, choreographed routines.
This seminar is recommended for senior grades – black belts and those on the path to black belt (karate 3rd kyu and higher). Ages 13+
