Karate Seminars with Shihan Keiji Tomiyama
Kofukan Karate Australia invites all karate practitioners to seminars with Shihan Keiji Tomiyama (9th Dan Tasshi Shito-Ryu, 6th Dan Goju-Ryu) in PERTH. Mr Tomiyama is President and Joint-Chief Instructor of Kofukan Shito-ryu Karate-do International.
OPEN WORKSHOPS (MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS – FEE APPLIES)
Saturday 18 July: All Grades sessions – location TBC
- Session 1 – 9:30am-11:30am – Fighting Combinations
- Fighting combinations are taught throughout the kyu-grade syllabus.
- These are practical attack combinations designed to create openings in kumite.
- Frequent moderate-high intensity
- Session 2 – 2:00pm-4:00pm – Pinan Hokei Kumite
- Sequences inspired by Pinan/Heian Kata 1-5
- These routines go beyond bunkai (analysis) by drilling back and forth partnerwork using the techniques and principles of the kata.
Sunday 19 July: advanced sessions ages 13+ – Casuarina-Wellard Community Hall, Wellard WA
Limited Places. FREE lunch for those attending both sessions
- Session 3 – 9:30am-12:00 noon – Kururunfa kata and bunkai
- Kururunfa is a traditional kata learned across many styles that practice Naha-te kata, such as Goju-Ryu and Shito-Ryu.
- Learn a traditional Tani-ha Shito-Ryu variation.
- Learn practical bunkai (technical analysis) for Kururunfa.
- Session 4 – 1:30pm-4:00pm – Naihanchin Kumite
- Practice the traditional Shito-Ryu variation of Naihanchin Shodan (also known as Naihanchi, Naifanchin and Tekki).
- One of the foundational Shuri-te kata.
- Learn practical fighting applications and Bunkai (analysis).
